Chapeau: Wider collaborationin several fields is expected between the two parties.
Texte: The new fisheries agreement between Morocco and the EU, which has just come into force, opens new perspectives for collaboration in the sector, EU Commissioner for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, Joe Borg said yesterday, quoted by Moroccan news agency MAP. After a meeting with Moroccan Agriculture, Rural Development & Fisheries Minister, Mohand Laenser, the Commissioner expressed hopes that this agreement would be a sign and that it would open the way to a wider collaboration between the two parties in different fields, such as scientific research. Borg recalled that, thanks to the accord, 119 European boats were currently authorised to fish in the Moroccòs Atlantic waters, which is the first signal for a normalisation of the relations between the Maghreb state and Europe, after the fisheries issue has been a reason for tension in the past years.
